Volunteers sought for new digitization center in Syracuse

The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, located in New York City, will be opening a new Central New York Digitization Center later this spring in Syracuse, NY.

Digitization volunteers will scan genealogical documents and records from organizations that need help with preserving and digitizing their at-risk materials as part of the NYG&B’s Digitize New York initiative.

In-person volunteers are needed who can commit time between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays at the Central New York Digitization Center in Syracuse.

Interested volunteers will be invited to attend an upcoming virtual orientation session to determine availability, discuss skills, and review guidelines. Those who are a good fit for the project will then be trained by NYG&B staff members on using our high-tech CopiBook scanner.

If you are interested in volunteering at the Central New York Digitization Center, please email volunteer@nygbs.org.
