Three local genealogy groups to meet this week

After a summer break, three local genealogy groups will meet this week.

The German Genealogy Group will meet on Thursday, Sept. 7, at the V.F.W. in Hicksville. Orientation will begin at 7 p.m. and the program will begin at 7:30 p.m.

This month’s topic will be “Donauschwaben” and will be presented by Lorraine Avitable. Are they Hungarian Germans or German Hungarians? If you are researching ancestors in New York, Ohio, Florida, California, Missouri and Illinois, you may have a Donauschwaben connection.

The Brentwood Genealogists will meet Saturday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. at the Brentwood Public Library. This month’s topic will be “War of 1812 Records: Preserve the Pension Project.”

The Italian Genealogy Group will also meet on Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Bethpage Public Library. There will be at Help Session at 9:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 10:30 a.m.
