“Finding Your Roots” to return on Tuesday, Jan. 4

Season 8 of Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr., is set to premiere on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on PBS.

Something to look forward to early next year! Season 8 of Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr., is set to premiere in January 2022 on PBS.

‘Finding Your Roots’ to present two episodes in January

The genealogy television show “Finding Your Roots” will present two episodes in January.

On Tuesday, Jan. 5 the episode explores the family secrets of journalist Gayle King, film director Jordan Peele, and comedian Issa Rae, introducing them to ancestors who raise profound questions about the shape and meaning of their family trees.

On Tuesday, Jan. 16 the episode Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, news anchor Norah O’Donnell and fashion designer Zac Posen explore their immigrant roots, retracing the journeys of their ancestors who arrived in the United States with little more than a dream–and revealing why that dream is still so inspiring today.

New genealogy show to begin May 26

A new genealogy show will be aired on ABC beginning Tuesday, May 26 at 10 p.m. Eastern time.

The show, “The Genetic Detective,” will follow investigative genetic genealogist CeCe Moore as she uses her research skills to help with crime solving. By working with police departments and crime scene DNA, she is able to trace the path of a violent criminal’s family tree to reveal their identity and help bring them to justice.

CeCe Moore is the co-founder of the Institute for Genetic Genealogy and has written the blog Your Genetic Genealogist since 2010.

 

 

New genealogy show to begin Saturday on NBC

Ancestry.com is sponsoring a new television show starting tomorrow, Saturday, April 4, on NBC.

The show is called “Roots Less Traveled” and follows a pair of family members​ who bond over their joint quest to learn more about their shared family history. People will solve mysteries in their family tree ranging from ancestors aboard the Titanic to stories of homesteaders forging a new path for future generations.

The show will cover seven locations in the U.S., Cuba and Mexico.

Episodes will also stream on NBC.com and Hulu.
