Italian Genealogy Group to meet Saturday

The Italian Genealogy Group will meet this Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Bethpage Public Library.

This month’s meeting will feature Melanie D. Holtz, CG speaking on “The Proi­etti: Research­ing an Aban­doned Child in Italy.” This lec­ture focuses on a com­mon prob­lem in Ital­ian geneal­ogy, when our research encoun­ters an aban­doned child. Does our research end there? What resources could be used to fur­ther the research? What social and polit­i­cal intri­ca­cies were in play in these situations?

Ms. Holtz has more than 20 years expe­ri­ence in Ital­ian genealog­i­cal research and Ital­ian Amer­i­can dual cit­i­zen­ship. She lec­tures on Ital­ian research, Ital­ian dual cit­i­zen­ship, pro­fes­sional devel­op­ment, and genealog­i­cal stan­dards.

There is a Help Session at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. Members not able to attend in person will be able to view the program remotely.
