‘Finding Your Roots’ Season 5 to begin in January

PBS has announced information about the new season of “Finding Your Roots With Henry Louis Gates, Jr.”

Season five of the show will begin on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Researchers for the show use both genealogical records and DNA testing.

Guests scheduled for the show include: actors, artists, journalists, TV hosts, politicians, filmmakers and comedians.

Who Do You Think You Are? continues this Sunday

The next episode of the genealogy show Who Do You Think You Are? will take place Sunday, April 16 on TLC at 10 p.m. The one-hour episodes will bring surprising discoveries of historical significance.

This season’s celebrity contributors include:

*John Stamos – digs into the mystery of how his grandfather became an orphan, and learns of tensions between families that led to a horrible crime.

*Liv Tyler – learns that her family is tied into the complicated racial narrative of America.

Genealogy roadshow continues on Tuesday

Genealogy Roadshow Season 3 will continue on Tuesday, May 31 at 8 p.m. on PBS stations. It will conclude on June 28. This season the show will take place in Albuquerque, Miami, Houston, Boston, Providence and Los Angeles.

Genealogy Roadshow’s professional genealogists are: Kenyatta D. Berry, Joshua Taylor and Mary Tedesco. They are matched with everyday people whose unique family claims are explored in each episode.

This week’s episode will take place at the Downtown Houston Public Library. A woman seeks to find out if her roots in Texas are as deep as the character she portrays in her historical re-enactments; a woman uncovers her link to a prominent figure in Texas history; another learns of her connection to the Cherokee Freedmen and one man traces his roots to the conflicts that shaped early American history.
