Free webinars focus on Scottish research and PERSI

Three free webinars will take place this week featuring topics on indexes, PERSI and Scottish research.

Legacy Family Tree Webinars will present “Ins and Outs of Indexes” on Wednesday, December 5 at 2 p.m. Indexes for county records are the key to finding deeds, probates and more. As FamilySearch digitizes more and more records, it’s crucial to be familiar with different indexing systems and how to use them. The Minnesota Genealogical Society will present “PERSIbilities: Better Research with ACPL’s Periodical Source Index” on Wednesday, December 5 at 8 p.m. This presentation will look into PERSI, discuss its partnership with FindMyPast and provide tips and techniques for getting the most out of this valuable genealogical resource. The presenter will demonstrate a variety of search tips, discuss how researchers can obtain copies of the journals they locate on PERSI, and report on ongoing digitization work.

The Ontario Genealogical Society will present “Scotland’s Resources” on Thursday, December 6 at 7 p.m. There are dozens of sites available to help you in your Scottish research once you are ready to move beyond Scotlandspeople. Sites like GENUKI, ScotlandsPlaces, SCAN and the National Library of Scotland are just a few of the free websites available to you from ‘across the pond.’
