Three local libraries to host genealogy programs this week

Three local libraries will be hosting genealogy programs this week.

The Connetquot Public Library will present “Fact, Fiction or Fish Tale?” on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. For more information, contact the library at 631-567-5079.

The Patchogue-Medford Public Library will present a program on “Genetic Genealogy” also on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Topics to be discussed include: choosing a testing company and how to interpret DNA results.

The Italian Genealogy Group will meet on Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Bethpage Public Library. Help Session will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 10:30 a.m.

This month’s topic will be “Barese Icemen of New York” presented by Carlo Mageletti. The program will explore why these Apulia migrants came to dominate the ice market in the United States and why niche occupations developed similarly by region.
