USCIS to host webinar on World War I repatriations

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will present a free webinar on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. entitled “World War I Repatriations.”

Hundreds of native-born and naturalized Americans lost their U.S. citizenship by serving in the armed forces of an allied country during World War I. Most were unaware that their enlistment had caused them to lose their citizenship. To help those effected, Congress passed the Act of October 5, 1917 which allowed them to take the Oath of Renunciation Allegiance and reassume their U.S. citizenship.

This webinar will use case files to show how American regained their U.S. citizenship.
