The Minnesota Genealogical Society will present “Getting Started in Genealogy” on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. How do you get started in genealogy? How do you organize what you know? Learn tools for success such as pedigree charts and family history software, where to go, and how to avoid common assumptions that can lead you astray.

The Ontario Genealogical Society will present “Using DNA for Genealogy Research” on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. This talk provides background information, such as the types of DNA that can be used for genetic genealogy, companies that test various types of DNA, results provided by testing, and how to use the results to further your family research. Accuracy and privacy concerns are also discussed, as well as how to develop a DNA testing plan to get the most out of your DNA testing.
