Free webinars to discuss naturalization records, fraternal organizations

Two special webinars will take place this Thursday, Aug. 24.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will present a free webinar at 1 p.m. entitled “U.S. Women, Marriage and Repatriation: 1922-1956.”

Did you know that thousands of U.S. born women lost their citizenship through marriage to non-citizens? Between 1907-1922, a married woman’s citizenship status was determined by her husband’s nationality. This webinar will use real case file examples to explore how women who lost their citizenship through marriage regained their nationality in the years after 1922.

The New England Historic Genealogy Society will present a free webinar at 3 p.m. entitled “Fraternally Yours: Finding Your Ancestor in American Fraternal Organization Records.”

Was your ancestor a Freemason, an Odd Fellow, a Knight of Columbus or a member of another fraternal organization? In this webinar, learn how to identify different fraternal organizations and learn how to locate a lodge and its records. These records can provide social history for your family history research.
