Websites offer free access to Irish records

Two more genealogy websites will be offering free access to Irish records this week.

Ancestry.com will give free access to all its Irish records until Sunday, March 19 at 11:59 p.m. You will need to set up a free account to access the records.

To start searching the Irish records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/cs/stpatricksday. From this page, you can also download a guide for finding Irish ancestors.

AmericanAncestors.org, the website of the New England Genealogical and Historical Society, will also be giving free access to Irish records through midnight on Wednesday, March 22. Access to records requires a free, brief sign-up on AmericanAncestors.org.

The promotion includes an hour-long webinar on Irish Resources, an online subject guide to locate key resources and records in Irish genealogy, and popular articles from the American Ancestors magazine about Irish and Irish American genealogy.
