Huntington Historical Society to meet Saturday

The Huntington Historical Society will meet this Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Huntington Public Library at 10 a.m.

This month’s program will be “Evidence Analysis: Which is the Right Record?” presented by Rhoda Miller.
Do you have records containing conflicting information such as birth date, name spelling, or mother’s maiden name? What do you do when evidence is conflicting? Then it’s time to use the GPS or Genealogical Proof Standard and other strategies for analyzing sources and information. These techniques can prove to be extremely valuable when identifying an ancestor.

Certified Genealogist, Rhoda Miller, will discuss the methodology used in working with the Genealogical Proof Standard and how to use cumulative records to solve problems. Manifests and naturalization papers will be used as case studies.

The library is located at 338 Main Street in Huntington Village. For more information, call 631-427-7045.
