Albany County military headstone database added to website

The Troy Irish Genealogy Society has recently added a collection of records for headstones for Civil War and Spanish American War Veterans.

New York State, as well as many other states, passed legislation to provide for the care, burial and erection of headstones for veterans of the Civil War and the Spanish American War. All counties in New York State were required to provide headstones for these veterans.

The database contains almost 1,000 names for Albany County. Information in the database includes: veteran name, unit name, veteran of which war, name of cemetery and location of cemetery.
