Jewish genealogy workshop scheduled for Nov. 6

The Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island will presents its 26th Annual Family History Workshop on Sunday, Nov. 6 from 12:30-5 p.m. at the Mid Island Y-JCC in Plainview.

The workshop will provide an overview for beginners as well as a review for those who want to brush up on or expand their skills. Topics will include interviewing relatives; identifying ancestral towns; Holocaust research; using censuses, city directories, ship’s manifests, naturalizations, vital records, and other U.S. sources.

Registration incudes a one year full membership in the Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island, a PDF copy of the workshop manual “Jewish Genealogy 101” and a PDF copy of Avotaynu’s “Getting Started in Jewish Genealogy.”

Seating is limited. Registration is $45 through October 29 and $55 starting October 30 or at the door.
