Index to NYC federal district court cases now available

The German Genealogy Group has added a new database to its website.

The Index to Criminal Records of the New York Federal District Court is an index to over 190,000 criminal cases. It covers cases from 1831 through 1959. The index includes the name of a person or a company, the date of the case, its case number and often the cause or a brief description of the case.

If you locate a case of interest and would like to find out how to obtain a copy of it, you can contact the National Archives at New York City at 1 Bowling Green, Third Floor, New York, NY 10004 or call them at 212-401-1620.

To access the index, go to: www.germangenealogygroup.com and under Database Searches select Federal and then select Criminal Records.

The German Genealogy Group meets the first Thursday of each month (except July and August) at the V.F.W. in Hicksville.
