Two local genealogy groups meet this weekend

Two local genealogy groups will meet on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

The Patchogue Medford Genealogy Research Group will meet this Saturday, June 25, at 10 a.m. at the Patchogue-Medford Public Library. There will be a Getting Started session at 9:30 a.m.

This month’s speaker will be Marie Scalisi and she will be discussing “Digging Into Deeds.” For more information, go to the library website at: www.pmlib.org/genealogy

The Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island will meet this Sunday, June 26, at 2 p.m. at the Mid Island Y-JCC in Plainview. There will be a Help Session at 1:30 p.m.

This month’s topic will be “Roots Tour – Bialystok Travel Log” presented by Bill and Elaine Farran.
After years of research, Bill and Elaine knew much about their family’s history in Eastern Europe — addresses, occupations, even burial places. But they realized that to truly understand their ancestors’ lives they’d have go to their towns. The process went from an idea to a plan — where to go, how to get there, and how to navigate three Eastern European countries. In this entertaining talk, the Farrans will describe their planning process and their trip to ancestral lands.
