German genealogy group to meet on Thursday

The German Genealogy Group will meet this Thursday, June 4, at the Hicksville V.F.W. Orientation begins at 7 p.m. and the program begins at 7:30 p.m.

The topic will be “Using FamilySearch for Genealogical Research” and the presenter will be Ruth Becker Cipko.

Whether you are unfamiliar with the FamilySearch.org website or a frequent user, everyone will benefit from this presentation which was created by Ms. Dorothy Dougherty, Public Programs Specialist for the National Archives at New York City.

The website will be covered from A to Z, beginning with opening the site to signing in and exploring all the categories that are available to a researcher. With new records and images of original records being added for all countries around the world on a daily basis, this is a presentation that will help users make the most of this resource.

There will be no meetings in July and August. The Hicksville V.F.W. is located at 320 S. Broadway (Route 107).
