Genealogy Lock-In to take place April 25

There is still time to register for the annual Genealogy Lock-In taking place from 1-9 pm on Saturday, April 25, at the Patchogue-Medford Library.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Thomas W. Jones, author of “Mastering Genealogical Proof.” He will present four 1 hour lectures and afterwards participants can stay and make use of the library’s genealogy collection.

The presentation topics will be:
“Can a Complex Research Problem by Solved Solely Online?”
“Overcoming Research Barriers: A Case Study.”
“Solving Problems with Original Sources”
“Solutions for Missing and Scarce Records.”

There will be a dinner break on your own from 4-5 p.m.

From 7:30 – 9 pm participants can stay and use the library in-house genealogy databases (AmericanAncestors.org, FindMyPast and Ancestry Library Edition), the New York State Vital Records Index microfiche, and more. Staff will be on hand to help answer your questions.

Pre-registration is required. Sign-in will be from 12:30-1 pm at the reference desk. You can register by phone at 631-654-4700 or online by using the library’s event calendar.
