Profile: Central New York Genealogical Society

The Central New York Genealogical Society was founded in 1961 and is based in Syracuse.

The 49 Counties which CNYGS members research are:

Albany, Allegany, Broome, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua,
Chemung, Chenango, Clinton, Columbia, Cortland, Delaware, Erie, Essex, Franklin, Genesse, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Livingston, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, Niagra, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Orange, Orleans, Oswego, Otsego, Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schohaire, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates.

Membership is $30 a year. Members receive four issues of the Tree Talks journal. The December issue is usually in two parts: 1) a complete transcription of a Census or other significant record from one county, with index, and 2) a subject and every-name index to the March, June and September issues.

In addition, CNYGS E-News is a bi-weekly newsletter distributed to members who provide an e-mail address.

Members may submit Queries up to approximately 50 words. Queries will be posted on the CNYGS web site along with your contact information.
