Passenger manifests to be topic at meeting

The Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island will meet this Sunday, June 22, from 2- 4 p.m. at the Mid Island JCC-Y in Plainview.

The topic will be “Passenger Manifests and the Immigrant Voyage.”

Guest speaker Phyllis Kramer will address many of the questions associated with the immigrant voyage including: how did immigrants obtain tickets, which ports did they leave from, what travel documents were required and what were the voyages like. She’ll also discuss locating and understanding ships’ manifests.

There will be no meetings in July or August.
