Two free webinars to take place on Saturday

The Southern California Genealogical Society will present a free webinar on Saturday, April 5, at 1 p.m.

The program is entitled “Descendancy Research,” and will be presented by Michael Brophy.

Researching living descendants of your ancestors can give your family history new life. Learn what traditional genealogy and reverse genealogy have in common and how they differ. Mr. Brophy will discuss the reasons for conducting the research along with proper methodology, sources and exciting websites to explore.

Michael Brophy is a professional genealogical researcher, heir search specialist, and lecturer from the Boston area. He has served as Program Director and Publicity Director for the Massachusetts Genealogical Council.

Also on Saturday, Legacy Family Tree webinars will present a free webinar “Googling Around with Google and other Technology,” at 4 p.m.

The presentation will be given by Geoff Rasmussen. Topics included are: how to use Google Alerts; how to better craft Google Searches with Douglas Barry’s customized Google Search form; how and why to search with a digital image instead of a phrase and how to view historical state and county boundaries with Google Earth.
