German genealogy group to meet this Thursday

The German Genealogy Group will meet on Thursday, March 6, at the V.F.W. Hall in Hicksville. Orientation starts at 7 p.m. and the program begins at 7:30 p.m.

The topic of the meeting will be “The Ethical Genealogist” presented by Judy G. Russell, JD, CG, CGL.

Genealogists deal with sensitive issues all the time: how to handle family secrets, what to say about the living people, crediting the work of others. Learn more about the ethical challenges of trying to solve history mysteries in the 21st century.

Judy Russell is a Certified Genealogist with a law degree who is a lecturer, educator and writer. She enjoys helping others understand genealogical issues ranging from how to use DNA in family research to the way law affected our ancestors’ lives and the records they left behind. Judy has written for the National Genealogical Society Quarterly and National Genealogical Society.
