Photo expert to speak at GGG meeting tonight

Maureen Taylor, an internationally known expert on photography and how it intersects with genealogy, will be the speaker tonight at the German Genealogy Group meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the V.F.W. Hall in Hicksville.

She will speak about “Photographs and Family History: Tips for Dating and Identifying Family Photos.”

As a photo curator, genealogist, and now as a writer and photo identification/preservation expert, the focus of Maureen’s work is family photography, history and genealogy. Through her web site PhotoDetective.com, she’s dedicated to helping those who share her interest in discovering the stories behind images of the past.

Ms.Taylor has been featured on television shows such as: The View, PBS Ancestors, and MSNBC and in print in such publications as: Better Homes & Gardens, the Boston Globe, Martha Stewart Living, and Life Magazine. She has written several books and is a contributing editor to Family Tree Magazine.
