Registration is open for NYC Repository Tours

The New York Biographical and Genealogical Society is once again sponsoring repository tours to genealogy research centers in Manhattan. This year there will be four tours:

New York Public Library: Milstein Division and Maps Division
There will be an overview of each of these divisions and the wonderful resources they contain. These introductions will be followed by a “hands-on” tutorial of some of the library’s online offerings in the South Court Classroom.
Friday, February 28, 2014 – 10:00am to 12:30pm

New York Public Library :Manuscripts and Archives Division
There will be an orientation to the genealogical pertinent holdings of the Manuscripts and Archives Division as well as expert advice on how to optimize your search for archival material at the NYPL.
Tuesday, March 11, 2014 – 6:00pm to 7:00pm

Municipal Archives Tour #1: Basic Orientation
This basic orientation will focus on the vital records and fundamental resources. Following visits to the Visitor Center, the City Hall Library, and the Conservation Lab, participants will spend the majority of time in the Archives Reference Room where they may conduct their own research.
Friday, April 11, 2014 – 1:30pm to 4:30pm

Municipal Archives Tour #2: Beyond the Basics
This “beyond the basics” orientation will focus on lesser-known genealogical resources. Following visits to the Visitor Center, the City Hall Library, and the Conservation Lab, participants will spend the majority of time in the Archives Reference Room where they may conduct their own research.
Friday, May 2, 2014 – 1:30pm to 4:30pm
