Local libraries provide access to digitized NY newspapers

The West Hempstead Library database collection and several sites on the internet offer free access to digitized New York newspapers.

From the library home page, www.whplibrary.org , click Online Services and then select Databases for Eresearch.

On the database page, click on the link News/Journals/Current Issues.
Some of the historical newspapers to choose from include The New York Times, Newsday and the New York Post.

Also, through the Long Island Memories Project, funded by the Long Island Library Resources Council, you can access digitized newspapers from Bethpage, Freeport and Garden City.

The Suffolk County Library System offers access to local digitized newspapers at their web site, www.live-brary.com/historic-newspapers.

Titles in their collection includes: the Long Islander, the Suffolk County News, and the South Side Signal.

The Brooklyn Public Library offers digitized copies of the Daily Eagle online covering the years 1841-1902.
